Sector IV - “Lagoa Comprida” (1600 meters high)

This is the largest of the Serra da Estrela lagoons, formed by an old glacier with one kilometer of extension. This lagoon has a granitic bottom and it has very deep areas, between 20 to 30 meters,  where rainbow trout (oncorhynchus mykiss), Brown trout (Salmo Trutta) and “bordalos”(euciscus carolitertii) live. In these waters live trout of unusual dimensions and specimens between 75 and 100 cm have been fished. The lagoon extends for an area of 80 h.
